Brooks Devlin is an environmental design practice established in May 2008 by Julian Brooks and Nick Devlin, who both previously ran successful businesses in similar fields.

With over 15 years of experience in the environmental building sector, Brooks Devlin offers services to developers, architects and house-builders that are exploring or committing to the concept of low or zero carbon construction and development.

We can offer advice and guidance for all types of projects ranging from new towns or urban extensions through to existing housing, multi-residential buildings, offices, community buildings and schools.

Julian Brooks BSc (Hons)

Julian has spent his working life in the construction industry, and has had an active involvement in environmental issues since the mid 90s.

In 1999 Julian helped establish the charity that is now the Ecos Trust, which aimed to “make sustainable construction the norm in Somerset by 2010”. He was also Chairman of Ecos Homes.

Julian is co author of two publications on sustainable construction and is a qualified BRE EcoHomes/Code Assessor.

He is a regular speaker at sustainable construction events, and in 2003 was invited to attend No. 10 Downing Street by the then Prime Minister in recognition for “services to promote sustainable development in the UK”.

Julian is actively involved with the UK Green Building Council and was recently appointed to the Zero Carbon Definition working group which reported to DCLG.

In 2010 Julian was appointed to the CABE Enabling (now Design Council) Panel where he will be providing planning and design advice on sustainability to a wide range of clients.

Nick Devlin BA (Hons), DipEEB

Nick has a wealth of experience in energy efficient building projects
and planning for sustainable development. Nick is an accredited
NHER SAP Assessor, a BRE EcoHomes and Code Assessor, and a specialist in daylighting design and assessment.

Nick is a certified Passivhaus Designer and accredited by the European Passivhaus Institute.

Nick is also building his own low energy home in Bridport.

Sara Bennett BSc (Hons)

Sara has always been interested in environmental issues, and has previously worked for the Environment Agency, Local Council Environmental Planning and within environmental engineering in the private sector. Sara is a qualified Code for Sustainable Homes and SAP Assessor .

Lisa Heal BSc, PGDipSurv

Lisa has always had a keen interest in design and the
Environment, and is an Interior Design graduate. Lisa previously worked as a Building Surveyor, and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Surveying (RICS Accredited Course).

Lisa is an accredited and licensed SAP Energy Assessor and a Code for Sustainable Homes Assessor.

Lisa is an accredited BREEAM Assessor in the following building categories: Education, Multiresidential (including Extracare and Student accommodation), Other Buildings, includes Bespoke, Prisons and Courts.
