Spatial Planning for Passivhaus Research Project

BD have teamed up with Gary Jackson, a very experienced Masterplanner, to spearhead a unique piece of research for Passivhaus in the UK. Working with our academic research partner, UCL, and upto 6no. MSc students we will be exploring the impact of Passivhaus design on masterplanning, looking in particular at any impacts on: layout/massing/orientation/density/viability/design. The outcomes are expected to set down principles/rules and a set of tools that could assist in optimising masterplans to meet Passivhaus principles. This is important work as we firmly believe Passivhaus will be a significant contributor towards meeting the 2016 zero carbon milestone and will reduce the potential amount of spend required on on/off site allowable solutions.
